Anju Garg

India-born, Anju started playing wih henna at a young age of 5. There was a henna shrub in the backyard of the next door neighbour, who always encouraged her to pluck some leaves and then grind them on the stone and by the time she was done, her hands where already colored with fresh henna leaves. The smell and color of henna leaves where her play time toys. On festivals like “rakhi”, “teej” ,diwali etc we would all decorate our hands with simple but fresh henna.

Over the years the love for Mehndi grew and finally she started doing Mehndi on family and friends brides. The enouragement that she received pushed her to do more intricate and delicate designs which took her like 7hrs to complete the bridal henna alone. After she moved to US, she started doing Mehndi as a free services to the school for there fundraiser. Now she is a full time Mehndi artist.
